M. J. Feely was born and grew up in Dayton, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts in theatre from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and an MFA in Playwriting from UCLA. His work has been seen in both university and professional theatre and has been recognized by the American College Theatre Festival (the David Library Award for Best Play on American History, 2nd Place), UCLA (Donald Davis Award for Best Play) and the Sonoma County Repertory Theatre (New Drama Works). His play Bookends was a finalist in Dayton Playhouse’s FutureFest competition in 2006 and was produced by the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia in February 2007. His play Night and Fog was the winner of FutureFest 2009 at the Dayton Playhouse. Most recently, his play Roosevelt's Ghost was a finalist in Dayton Playhouse's FutureFest 2011, finishing in a tie for audience favorite. He is represented by Marta Praeger of the Robert A. Freedman Dramatic Agency and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
Roosevelt's Ghost was a finalist in the Dayton Playhouse's FutureFest 2011 the weekend of July 29-31, 2011. Roosevelt's Ghost was performed at 10 AM on the morning of July 30th by a great cast led by a terrific director. And we finished in a three-way tie for audience favorite. Thanks to all involved!
